I really thought March would never end… But now it’s finally April and I’m so ready to start the new month 🙂 I’ve been up to many things in the last few months that I’m really excited about, but that also means I haven’t been reading too much. It’s okay, though! I don’t feel bad about it haha 🙂
Anyway, I thought it would be fun to do a little Get to Know Me tag! I found these questions online (here and here), but I didn’t want to answer all of them because there are over 50 and I’m pretty sure all of us would be bored before I even reach the halfway point XD
Where do you currently live?
I currently live in Indonesia with my family, so if anyone is from Indonesia let me know in the comments! I just came back after so many years living in Malaysia so I don’t have any friends here… #sad
How tall are you?
My height is kind of a sore spot for me because I’m the eldest child and yet I’m the shortest. I’m only 159 cm tall, which is about 5.2 in feet & inches. It makes me so upset when my sisters and I go anywhere and I’m the shorty in the middle 😦
But after watching Michelle Khare’s recent video where she walked the runway at London Fashion Week, I’m feeling much better about my height 🙂
What year were you born?
I’m a 90s baby. I was born in ’95 and I think people born in that year are all awesome. But maybe I’m biased heh heh
Are you in/have you gone to college?
Yes, I did go to college. I graduated in October 2018 with a degree in Culinary Management (Hons). I majored in Culinary Operations and I loved every minute of it 🙂
What is your favorite drink?
Usually, I would say water. But lately I’ve been enjoying Thai milk tea a lot 🙂 I read somewhere that Thai milk tea came about when the kings of Thailand (many years ago) got their hands on some tea leaves. After the kitchen staff made tea for the royalty, they also wanted to try some so they tried reusing the leftover tea leaves. Since it wasn’t as strong as the initial brew, they decided to add spices and milk to enhance the flavor. Then it gained popularity to this day.
I have no idea how accurate that story is, so if you know more about it, let me know!
How many siblings do you have?
I have one younger brother and 2 younger sisters (and they’re ALL taller than me) 🙂 They’ve all been “featured” on my blog. My sisters recently guessed the plots of books based on the covers and they’ve definitely contributed their opinions on a few of my discussion posts.
My brother was my debate partner in my Books VS Video Games discussion and we discussed what we would do if a zombie apocalypse should happen. Good times 🙂
What is your favorite Netflix show?
I haven’t exactly been watching Netflix lately… But I enjoyed watching Tidying Up With Marie Kondo and I LOVED Zumbo’s Just Desserts! Watching those shows just inspired me to clean my house and come up with creative desserts 😀
Other than that, I enjoyed The Alienist and Eternal Love (review here). I watched Van Helsing with my sister but I haven’t finished it yet…. But let me know if you have any recommendations!
Have you moved away from home, where to and how was the experience?
I lived in Malaysia for over 5 years because of school. It was great living by myself, I really enjoyed having my own space and being independent. And bonus: no curfew! haha 😀
What do you do in your free time?
Well, my day usually starts with teaching Math and Physics, then I’d be working on my project, contacting suppliers, planning and creating recipes and doing a bunch of paperwork. So I always try to enjoy my free time, maybe watch videos on YouTube, read or do artsy things.
I’ve been learning Chinese and also food photography, too. So that fills up a lot of my free time as well 🙂
Have you been to any concerts or festivals? Which were the most memorable?
I’ve only ever been to one concert in my life, and I only went because I got free tickets and I figured ‘eh, why not?’. It was One Republic and I guess it was good, I just really, REALLY do not like crowds. I left halfway through the concert and I don’t think I’m ready to go to another one anytime soon.
What social media are you addicted to?
Hmm… I’m actually not a big social media user. I can go for days without checking any of my social media account, so if you follow me on Twitter, I’m sorry. But if I had to choose, I probably like Instagram the most. Not because I post a lot (I probably post once every 3 months or so), or because I get to connect with my friends, but because I follow a lot of food accounts. I get very inspired looking at the beautiful cakes and food on Instagram 🙂
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I actually do. I use sarcasm A LOT when I’m talking, but I often worry that it wouldn’t translate through text and people would just think I’m dumb. So I don’t really use a lot of sarcasm here on my blog…
Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings all the way! I hate scary movies, scary books and pretty much scary anything. If you’ve read my story about my encounter with a ghost (true story, by the way), you’ll know why I prefer happy stories where everyone gets a good ending 🙂
What phone do you have (iOS vs Android)?
You know, I have never been interested (and probably won’t ever be) in Apple products. I don’t know why… I’ve always been an Android user and I’m happy with it 🙂
Do you consider yourself a good cook?
I think my dad would be upset about the money he spent to send me to culinary school if I’m not a good cook haha 🙂
But yes, I do think I’m a good cook. I’ve always enjoyed cooking. I actually started cooking and baking when I was around 10-11. My parents would go on business trips and I liked trying out recipes for me and my siblings, and when my parents get back, I’d be good at making something and let them try it.
Also, I have to consider myself a good cook, because if I don’t have confidence in my own cooking, no one else would 🙂
So there you have it! A little get to know me session that ended up longer than I thought 😀
Tell me your answers to these questions in the comments! I’d love to know more about you, too 🙂
