Digging My Way Out of My TBR Pile: Book Series to Finish ASAP (Part 3)

Hello, everyone! Hope your day is going great 🙂

I’m here today with yet another list of book series that I haven’t finished. I think these lists are good for me. They motivate me to actually get started and make a dent in my neverending TBR. I’ve actually taken a few books of the previous lists (you can check out Part 1 here and Part 2 here if you want to) either by donating them, or you know, actually reading them like I was supposed to.

So now I’m making a Part 3 of this list just so I can see it and feel guilty for not reading these books and being my usual procrastinator self.

Shadow and Bone Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

I really want to read Six of Crows and I’ve heard that you can read it by itself without reading this series, but because I’m me and because I have this series I’m going to read it anyway 🙂 . I just finished the first book in the series and I like it. I don’t love it, but I like it and I’m going to continue with the next one.

Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I really need to get a move on with this series! I just know that the longer I wait, the higher the chances of me not remembering anything 😦

Falling Kingdom by Morgan Rhodes

Here’s another series that I’ve had on my bookshelf for AGES! This is the year I’m getting to it. I promise! I think I’ll make my sister read it with me because this series seems like something she’d like 🙂

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I’ve been putting off reading this series because I wanted to have all 4 books so I didn’t have to wait too long for the next installment. Well, book 4 is coming out next year, so I can’t make any more excuses 😉

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

Funny story. I actually brought this book with me when I went to Switzerland in 2017, thinking I’d read it on the plane or during breaks between classes. What actually happened? None of that! I didn’t read on the plane, I talked with my friends and watched movies instead. And I didn’t read while I was there, either. I went sightseeing. But who can blame me? Switzerland is BEAUTIFUL 😀 . Then I don’t know what happened because it’s suddenly 2019 and I still haven’t read this series. So…

Okay, so that’s my list of book series that I want to read this year. If you want to make sure I do, ask me about them from time to time so I feel guilty and actually read them 🙂

See any books you’ve read? What did you think about them and which ones do you think I should read first? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I love the Shadow and Bone Trilogy, but I recently re-read the first book and found it kind of slow, I think the series gets better and better though! I really need to continue with the Shades of Magic trilogy as well, but I’m 99% sure I’ve forgotten 99% of the plot already.

    1. So glad to hear that you love it! I’m definitely going to continue reading this series soon 😁
Haha I think I’ve forgotten most of it, too, but hopefully we can both remember the important parts when reading the next one 😁

  2. Oooh Shadow and Bone is a tough one….I definitely wasn’t a fan of that trilogy, but I LOVE Six of Crows! You definitely don’t have to have read the trilogy to read Six of Crows, but I can understand why you want to.
And A Darker Shade of Magic is SUCH a good series, I hope you get to it soon!

    1. I feel like a lot of people love Six of Crows more than Shadow and Bone. Well, if I end up not really liking the second book, I might just skip the last one and go straight to Six of Crows instead 😁
Glad to hear you liked it! I’m looking forward to reading this series 😊

  3. Six of Crows is ten times better than the Grisha trilogy. However, if you want to read King of Scars, it’s good that you’re reading the Grisha trilogy because King of Scars really expects you to be intimately familiar with the details of those three books. I wasn’t because I read them too long ago, and it was frustrating.

    1. Yeah I’ve seen so many people say Six of Crows is better, but I do want to read King of Scars and I have this thing where I just can’t leave something incomplete. I’m working on it 😅

  4. Good luck with those! I actually tried ‘Wintersong’ as it sounded beautiful, but a couple of things didn’t sit right with me so I did not finish it.

I read ‘A Darker Shade of Magic’ as well, but I was really disappointed and definitely don’t want to continue.

I hope you like those books more than I did!

    1. Thank you!

Yeah, I wasn’t as impressed with A Darker Shade of Magic as I hoped to be, but I’m going to give the rest of the series a try because I actually have them 😅

I’ll keep that in mind about Wintersong. I’m trying to not have high expectations because usually that gets me disappointed…

      Thank you!
