Hello, everyone!
Here I am again, with another Top 5 Wednesday post because you know, it’s Wednesday?
Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey on Youtube) on Goodreads, now hosted by Sam from ThoughtsOnTomes. Every Wednesday, book lovers will share their list of Top 5 books/characters/, etc. depending on the topic of the week through their book blogs, Instagram, Tumblr, etc. This week’s topic is ‘Books You Felt Betrayed By’: Beware the Ides of March! What books (or characters) did you feel betrayed by, for whatever reason…big or small.
If you love any of the books on my list, don’t be offended because I don’t like them. Everyone has different opinions, right? I’m only going to include books I’ve read recently (in the last couple of years or so) because tbh, I don’t remember most of the books I’ve read before then. Okays, so here we go!
Glass Sword
The first book, Red Queen, was great and I liked it, but I didn’t enjoy Glass Sword. The main character really annoyed me and because of that, the story became a chore to get through. I’ve heard that King’s Cage is much better, but I’m not in a rush to read it and even if I do, I’ll probably borrow the book from the library.
You can read my review of Red Queen here and Glass Sword here.
Ice Like Fire
Okay, I think we’re starting to see a pattern here. It’s always the sequels, isn’t it? Because I really liked Snow Like Ashes and I was so excited to read Ice Like Fire, but when I did I was so disappointed! I felt so betrayed 😦 The third book was definitely better, but I still didn’t like it as much as the first.
You can read my review of Snow Like Ashes here, Ice Like Fire here, and Frost Like Night here.
Three Dark Crowns
My main problem with Three Dark Crowns is how SLOW it is. It was one of those really hyped books and I just couldn’t resist because it sounded so interesting and also the cover is really pretty, but I ended up very disappointed.
You can read my review of Three Dark Crowns here.
The Fault in Our Stars
Okay, maybe I’m not the biggest fan of contemporary novels, but I don’t mind reading this genre once in a while. I know so many people love this book and it made them cry and it’s amazing and all that stuff, but I just didn’t get it. I didn’t really like the characters and to be honest, the two main characters are so similar that at times I couldn’t tell who was talking. Also, I didn’t cry.
Fairy Tales that are not Disney
Don’t get me wrong, I love these fairy tales! But sometimes, they’re so dark and so different than the adorable Disney musicals that they make me so scared. And you must never forget that I am a scaredy cat. It is known.
So that’s my list for this week’s Top 5 Wednesday! Are there any books that you felt betrayed by? Tell me in the comments! 🙂
I picked “Three Dark Crowns” as one of my book betrayals too! Definitely didn’t live up to its premise in my opinion.

Definitely Three Dark Crowns and Glass Sword. Also, Fifty Shades of Gray, and The Dark Continent by Keira Drake.😡

I’ve never read Fifty Shades and I probably won’t haha
I’ve heard a lot of things about The Continent on Twitter, though, and I don’t think I’ll read it, either 😦
Thanks for the comment 🙂

I loved Red Queen and was also really annoyed with Mare in Glass Sword. However, although Mare is annoying in the beginning of King’s Cage, the book was much better and she gets less annoying as the book goes on. You should def read it. I even kind of started a girl crush on Evangeline in King’s Cage, which sounds crazy cause she’s supposed to be bad but when you read her pov she makes so much more sense.

I’m glad you think so! I think I might read it, maybe I’ll just borrow the book from a friend or the library. Haha, I look forward to reading about Evangeline then 😀

Don’t have an appreciation for dark fairytales huh? 🙂 Thats ok. We can still be friends. I haven’t read Ice like Fire yet but I LOVED Snow like Ashes. You’ve officially made me nervous.

I’m glad you said we can still be friends 😀
I actually do like dark fairy tales, but sometimes my overactive imagination gets the best of me and I just get scared, especially because I used to live alone haha 😀
Yeah, proceed with caution with Ice Like Fire… I know there are people who love it, but sadly, I’m not one of them 😦
