February Wrap-Up

Hi, everyone! *waves*

How are you? It’s been two weeks since my last post and I really miss you guys! February was a hectic month for me, and I’ve been really busy, but I’m hoping now that things have settled down, I’ll be able to post again 🙂

So what actually happened in February? Well, I had this ‘research’ to do, and all my free time got sucked away into a black hole of despair. I actually read a lot in February, just not novels. After reading The Marshmallow Test last month, I told myself I wouldn’t be reading any researchy things in the future, but what do you know?  I read A LOT of research papers and articles and stuff like that so I could do my dissertation. It’s a work in progress, but I’m hoping it’ll end up great. Or at least good enough to pass? I’m torn between not caring and also caring too much about it and I haven’t had enough sleep so…

I went to my friend’s brother’s wedding last week and I think I gained weight because the food was delicious and I ate a lot. And when I came back, it was time to submit all the assignments and we had tests for Finance class and you can see where I’m going with all the excuses (I’m trying to explain my unplanned absence…heh heh) Let’s all hope I’ll be able to be the Avatar in March and find balance in my life 😀

I didn’t read a lot of books in February. I finished The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves which are amazing! And I’m almost done with Angelfall by Susan Ee and Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi. I’m actually waiting for my sister to catch up on Under the Never Sky, but she’s on vacation in Dubai and I don’t think we’ll be reading anytime soon.

Hmm… what else, what else? Oh! I’m taking a class called Contemporary Asian Cuisine this semester and what we’re doing is basically taking a traditional Asian recipe and try to make it more contemporary either by changing up the ingredients, the cooking method and/or the presentation. It’s a very interesting class. Each week, one of us gets assigned to be Chef of the Day and we’d be in charge of designing and modernizing a menu from a specific Asian country. The country I’m assigned to is Turkey, and I’m so excited about it! I didn’t take any photos, but my friend did and here are some pictures of Laotian (Laos), Thai (Thailand) and Taiwanese (Taiwan) food. I’m really considering bringing back Fridays are for Food just to show you guys the food we cook every week 🙂 As usual, sorry for the picture quality! The harsh lighting is not good for food photography 😦

Today is actually my brother’s wedding, but I pretended to forget and since he’s my brother, he doesn’t really care about birthdays so he probably didn’t notice my pretending to forget. But, I’m going to take him to watch Logan tomorrow and surprise him with a birthday cake and I’m hoping he’ll actually be surprised. He has such a poker face that I can never tell what he’s feeling haha!

Anyway, that’s all from me today. I’ll try my best to post more and stalk your amazing blogs in the next few days 🙂

  1. What is that dessert one made up of? With the berry cream underneath some type of ice cream? All that good looks so yummy! Enjoy Logan! I hope to see it with my husband today.

    1. Thank you! It’s actually red rubies in coconut milk sauce with deep fried pears. It’s a Thai dessert. And the ice cream is Thai milk tea ice cream 🙂
      I hope you enjoy Logan!
